Eleven (11) Buhler High School creative arts students were honored in the 2019 Eastern Kansas Region Scholastic Art Awards. These students, ranging from freshman to seniors, created paintings, sculptures, designs, illustrations, and photographs in Mrs. Tara Goans and Mr. Chad Wahlgren's courses.
Senior student, Creyton Nisly, and Junior Branden Beauchamp received the prestigious Gold Key award. Their pieces will move on to the National Scholastic competition. Students receiving Silver Key awards include Seniors Alysa Marker and Payton DeMeyer. All 4 of these works will be on display at Mark Arts of Wichita, in the Mary R. Koch Arts Center from February 1st to March 23rd. They are also eligible for college scholarships and cash awards, to be announced at the closing ceremony.
Seven more Buhler students received Honorable Mention designations. Close to 2,500 entries were considered for the contest and exhibit. Our region is hosted each year by Mark Arts of Wichita. Students and their families are invited to an opening reception from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Friday, February 1st.
