If you are interested in donating to help Buhler school students, families, or staff members through the Buhler Education Foundation you may also donate online at their PayPal link here:

Please make sure to add a note when donating that says “Fire Victims”
Thank you for your support of our Buhler family!

Good Morning Buhler Crusader Community,
As the sun rises this morning, we are all counting our blessings that no lives were lost in the fires yesterday. "Things" can be replaced and that is what we now start work on. Our firefighters - across the state - came together yesterday to make some miracles happen saving lives and many homes.
There are quite a few homes and families that have been devastated and have little more than the clothes on their backs. I am working to gather names and numbers of our Buhler students and employees to get a list going of immediate needs. Currently, I know of at least 4 families that have lost everything.
Many of you have such generous hearts and are willing and able to help. Here are two safe and reliable ways to donate. Both options below are tax deductible.
1) To donate specifically to help Buhler School students, families, and employees:
Write a check to Buhler Education Foundation with "fire victims" in the memo line. That can be mailed or dropped off at our district office: USD 313, 406 W. 7th, Buhler, KS 67522. OR can be dropped off at any First National Bank location.
2) To donate to any fire victim, United Way of Reno County is helping by collecting money at https://www.unitedwayofrenocounty.org/?fbclid=IwAR1EhTHipGS-FQr-r02jo6rrqFCDfv3VEiRoH9xid7dV079JS0Bm5iXkZKQ
Another valuable resource is Reno County VOAD (Volunteer Organization Active in Disaster). For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/renocovoad/
As you consider helping financially, please always do your research and make sure the organization or page you donate to is a reliable place to give.
Currently, there are 4 families with various ages of students we are aware of who need items. We will get organized quickly today. The easiest way for people to help right now is by donating money to purchase items specific to each student such as school supplies, clothes, toiletries, etc. Soon we will get a list going of other needs that can be dropped off if needed.

AAVA students had the opportunity to join us at the office yesterday to make their own tie blanket, and they turned out great. Just perfect for snuggling up under with a good book!

Good Afternoon,
After driving area roads, the wind causing snow drifts is already a concern for safe travel. With overnight winds, drifting of roads will continue to be an issue in the morning. Due to unsafe traveling conditions, Buhler Schools USD #313 will NOT be in session on Thursday, February 3rd.
A decision on activities for Thursday afternoon will be made before 11:30 am tomorrow.

Buhler USD #313

Good Afternoon,
Using the National Weather Service forecast of snow and wind chill for Wednesday combined with the very high confidence level of the event occurring, Buhler Schools USD #313 will NOT be in session on Wednesday, February 2nd. Additionally, there will be no activities including practices.
It is unusual for us to make this determination this early; however, all weather models are showing significant weather and travel impact. We hope this allows time for families to make arrangements for children tomorrow.

Buhler is proud to introduce the following framework that was collaboratively developed with our stakeholders.
The DNA of a Buhler Graduate is our way of emphasizing timeless character traits and skills with our students that will help them to navigate any obstacle in the future whether it be school, work, life, or relationships.
Below you will see a launch video with interviews from our teachers and administrators, as well as a link to the full DNA of a Buhler Graduate document. This Wednesday, November 3rd, we will be hosting a Flu and COVID clinic in partnership with the Reno County Health Department. This clinic will be at Buhler High School from 1:00-5:00 and is open to all staff, students, and families. No appointment is necessary. See attached graphic for more information. Below are some FAQs you may have:
1. Is it safe to get the flu shot and the COVID shot/booster at the same time?
Yes.
2. What COVID booster is being offered?
Reno County Health Department will have all three available and you can choose which one you want.
3. Does it matter which COVID Booster you choose?
No. You are able to mix and match brands if you prefer or stay with the same one you originally received.
4. What ages can get the shot?
Flu Shots are available to all ages. COVID shots are available to ages 12 and up.
5. When will ages 5-11 have a clinic for the COVID shot?
We are working on scheduling one with the Reno County Health Department. There will be more information coming later.
6. What do I need to bring?
If you are getting the COVID booster, bring your vaccination card (shows dates of previous COVID shot). If you have insurance, bring a copy of your insurance card.
7. I can't make it Wednesday, what are my other options?
You can go to any pharmacy and ask for a flu shot or COVID booster. Buhler Schools will be scheduling more clinics later but no specific dates have been set yet.
8. If I have had COVID recently, do I need to wait 90 days to get the Booster?
There is no waiting period if they have had Covid, however, sometimes they may react to the vaccination with not feeling well stronger than someone who has not had Covid.
9. I had the monoclonal antibodies (this is an IV for patients diagnosed with COVID), do I need to wait 90 days to get the Booster?
Yes. You will need to wait 90 days if treated with monoclonal antibodies from having Covid.
