In the next week, the Buhler Crusaders have two important matchups; this Friday they will play a solid Rose Hill Rockets team at Rose Hill. Next week for the first time, they will play an exciting matchup against the McPherson Bullpups at Riverfront Stadium in Wichita on Thursday, October 19th at 7 p.m.

Last year the Crusaders’ season started off rough due to injuries and a smaller senior class. This resulted in underclassmen stepping in to fill a varsity role. The Crusaders started the year with 3 losses, continued with 4 wins, and ended with 2 losses. However, this experience has pushed them forward as a team.

“Our seniors have done a great job this year being leaders. It started last winter. They knew they didn’t want to go 4-5 again. So they worked very hard; they’ve reminded each other of that. They’ve done a great job of getting the other kids to buy into what we want to do. I’m very proud of the seniors,” said head coach Steve Warner.

This Friday, the Crusaders (5-1) will face off against the Rockets (3-3) at 7 p.m. in Rose Hill.

When asked what the Crusaders should expect against Rose Hill, head coach Steve Warner said, “A very tough game. They played Mulvane and they beat Mulvane 35-14. Mulvane scored a touchdown with about a minute to go. I think our kids really respected Mulvane and they played hard against us. We beat them 57-36 but we gave up 36 points. So that's something that we don't normally do. I think that has our kids' attention.”

“[Mulvane’s] big, they’re physical, and they’ve got a running back that is very elusive – he's a sophomore but he's quick, and I think he definitely has our kids' attention. We know we have to be ready for them,” said Warner.

The Crusaders have an opportunity to play long-time rival McPherson Bullpups (3-3) next week at Riverfront Stadium in Wichita on Thursday, October 19th at 7pm.  This is an opportunity provided to 5 different high school rivalries this fall.

“This is a great opportunity for us and our program to go there. It’s a beautiful facility. Both crowds will be large. No matter where we play we will be ready because it’s McPherson and I know they will be ready for us. We can’t look ahead we first have to take care of Rose Hill,” said Warner.
